Chelsea may be able to sign Anzhi Makhachkala’s Samuel Eto’o for as little as £5m, the Guardian understands.
Jose Mourinho has been searching for a new striker all summer, but looks increasingly unlikely to secure a deal for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney after seeing both of their bids for the England international knocked back.
Eto’o has recently spoken of his admiration for his former employer, who he played under at Inter Milan during their treble winning campaign of 2009/10.
Meanwhile, West Ham United are keen to secure a deal for Demba Ba, according to the Daily Star.
Ba began his Premier League career with the Hammers, for whom he scored seven goals in just twelve appearances before moving to Newcastle United in June 2011.
If the club are able to add a new striker before the transfer window closes on September 2nd, they could well allow the Senegal international to move on, though having laid out £22m on Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing, West Ham are likely to pursue a loan deal.
Finally, teenage duo Lucas Piazon and Wallace have both secured season-long loan moves to Vitesse Arnhem and Inter Milan respectively.
Wallace is yet to make his debut for Chelsea, while Piazon, who will link up with fellow Blues Gael Kakuta, Patrick van Aanholt and Cristian Cuevas at the Dutch club, made his one and only league appearance so far as a cameo in the 8-0 victory over Aston Villa last December.
