Chelsea are willing to accept loan offers for young defender Trevoh Chalobah before the summer transfer window slams shut. That is according to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Serie A giants Inter Milan are keen on bringing in the 23-year-old on loan this summer. As the summer transfer window enters its final two weeks, the Blues continue to rebuild and trim their bloated first-team squad. But for every new incoming player, Chelsea must make room by finding a solution for a current player to leave Stamford Bridge to maintain balance and squad morale.

Thus, if Wesley Fofana joins Chelsea in the coming days for a possible world-record fee, he is likely to slot straight into the right-sided centre-back role of a back three. As a result, Chalobah will likely struggling for minutes in what could be a pivotal season for him. A Chelsea academy graduate, Chalobah enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, notably scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace. He made 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists, impressing enough to start both domestic cup finals against Liverpool.

But the youngster has fallen down the pecking order under Tuchel, who, despite being an admirer of his talent, has now given the green light for his loan exit. But, unlike Malang Sarr’s loan move to Marseille, Chelsea are not interested in including any sort of buy option or obligation in a potential deal for Chalobah as they do not want to lose the player permanently, according to The Athletic.

It is noted that Chalobah is still highly-regarded at the club and can still play a role in the team in the long term, which is reasonable given both Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are well into their thirties and on short-term contracts.
