Moses saga rumbles on

Despite reports suggesting that a deal for Victor Moses is imminent, it appears as though this is not the case and Blues supporters will have to wait a little longer before the Wigan forward arrives at Stamford Bridge. The player’s agent insists that a deal has not been agreed, meaning that the saga looks set to progress through the rest of the week.

Moses has been linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the whole summer and after having numerous bids rejected, it had been speculated that Roberto Di Matteo had succeeded with a £9m bid for the Nigerian. However, Neil Fewings has denied this is the case, telling Sky Sports, “Reports that a £9m deal has been agreed between Chelsea and Wigan are not true.”

Nevertheless, Blues supporters probably shouldn’t be too concerned, as it has become quite clear that the 21-year-old will leave the DW Stadium this summer. The former Crystal Palace man has made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level and with his contract having just twelve months remaining, Wigan have been put in an almost impossible situation. Even though Latics chairman Dave Whelan has attempted to play hardball, even he has admitted in recent weeks that he expects the player to move on. With the Blues understood to be the only side to make a concrete offer, it would appear as though they are the only serious contenders for his signature.

Already, it’s thought that Whelan has lowered his asking price for the forward, after his initial valuation was said to be £12m. Following on from Moses’ take on the situation, it’s now thought that Chelsea will have to shell out less than £10m to land their man. Even though Fewings claims that no agreement has been reached, it should now not be too long before this long-winded saga comes to a successful close.
