Oscar move imminent

There have been intense rumours for the past week that Brazilian midfielder Oscar is poised to join the Blues. It now appears as though this speculation is all but certainly going to come to fruition, with the player confirming that he has passed a medical while his current club have announced that a deal is in place.

It is understood that the transfer is worth around £25m and the two clubs have now come to a verbal agreement. Internacional president, Giovanni Luigi, confirmed this by stating, “There is a verbal agreement between the two parties. But we have to put that on paper and the lawyer of both clubs have to discuss the matter.”

However, the biggest tell for Chelsea fans will be the announcement from the player himself. In an interview, Oscar claims that he has met with the club doctor to undergo the necessary tests, although he does say that he will still wait until after the Olympic Games have concluded before making his final decision on the transfer. He said, “I only had a meeting with the doctor, nothing else. I haven’t signed any contract yet. I will wait until the end of the Olympic Games to decide my future. All Brazilian players have this dream. I have, like everybody, the dream to play in Europe and the Premier League.”

Bearing the above statements in mind, it appears extremely probable that Oscar will be making the move to Stamford Bridge in the very near future. Such a transfer will undoubtedly go down very well with Blues supporters, with Oscar establishing himself as one of Brazil’s most promising prospects after initially making his debut for the national team in 2011. If the fee of £25m is correct, Chelsea’s spending this summer will have totalled around £64m following the captures of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin.
